A Special Guest Bedroom Close to My Heart
Some projects are more than just designs — they’re part of a long relationship. This guest bedroom is one of them.
I first started working with this client six years ago, when I had just launched my business. She was one of my very first clients. Over time, we slowly designed almost every space in their main house and their guest house. Today, I want to share one of my favorites: their guest bedroom.
This room holds a special place in my heart. It’s designed in calming tones of blue, white, and gray. One detail I especially love is how the custom drapery matches the wall color, creating a seamless, cozy feeling that wraps around you the moment you step inside.
The gray headboard anchors the room, flanked by chagrin side tables and a beautiful piece of art placed perfectly above. A wall light by the bed adds a warm, relaxing glow, enhancing the serene atmosphere. Every detail feels calm, considered, and inviting.
Another feature I’m proud of is the custom desk we designed. When there are no guests, the client uses it as a small home office. It's positioned by the window to take in the beautiful view — a perfect spot for a few hours of peaceful work.
Technology made its way into this space, too. The roman shade and draperies are fully motorized, making it effortless for guests to adjust the light with the press of a button — no need to walk around the room.
In one corner, we placed a suede-upholstered chair, perfect for settling in with a book or a glass of wine. It’s a little invitation to slow down.
Connected to the bedroom is a beautiful ensuite bathroom, finished in warm gray tones. I always love using wallpaper in bathrooms, and here we used a Phillip Jeffries vinyl that feels like silk. It brings a subtle luxury to the space — much more dynamic than simple paint.
The shower is practical as well as beautiful, with discreet grab bars for convenience. The dark gray tile pairs perfectly with the brass plumbing fixtures, giving the bathroom a sophisticated, layered feel.
Every time guests stay here, our clients tell us how much they love the space — and I always remind my clients that their own wonderful taste played a big part in making this room so special.
